CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting is a cosmetic procedure based on cryolipolysis, breaking down fat deposits using cold temperatures. Cryolipolysis kills fat cells and induces an inflammatory response in the body. The body then removes the dead cells through natural processes.
In 1999, two scientists at Harvard University were inspired by this research. They spent years developing and refining an innovative and safe way to selectively freeze and destroy small pockets of fat cells without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue.
CoolSculpting® first became FDA-cleared in 2009 to treat stubborn fat. "Cryo" means "cold," and "lipolysis" means "to break down fat."
